Kimberly and Bert’s reception took place this past weekend at one of my favorite North Carolina venus, The Angus Barn Pavilions. It really is fantastic out there, and I hope you have been lucky enough to visit there before (or at least eat at the restaurant). Anyway, the guests arrived just before 5:00 where I had a good mix of acoustic and country tunes the couple had picked out for cocktail hour. Once Kim and Bert finished their last few photos, I introduced just the two of them to Pharrell’s “Happy”, and then they went right into their first dance Kip Moore’s “Hey Pretty Girl”. I had not heard the song before, but I loved it. They then got a chance to join the guests for the rest of cocktail hour. Later, I asked the guests to have a seat and after a brief blessing, the food stations opened. I got a chance to eat, and once again, LOVED it! What a treat!

As dinner ended, they had one toast, cut their cake (“I’m Yours” by Jason Mraz), and then right into their other special dances. Kimberly and her brothers danced to “In My Life” by The Beatles, and Bert and his mother danced to Skynyrd’s “Simple Man”. Great song choices guys! After those dances, it was party time! I opened up the floor with some Motown classics and then went through tons of genres including country. The night ended with a rousing rendition of “Shout” and “I Gotta Feeling” before we sent the new couple out under a shower of sparklers. A perfect February wedding!
