I was brought in to DJ the ceremony for Greg and Tara at the Amphitheater at the beautiful Duke Gardens.  The weather had been hot all week, but some showers the day before, and clouds on the wedding day provided some much needed relief.  The planner, Amanda Scott with A Swanky Affair made sure that plenty of drinks were ready for all of the guests.

The groom chose all of the music for the prelude, the ceremony, and the cocktail hour.  They have very eclectic taste in jazz, which accented their personalities well.  Guests were greeted with John Coltrane, Dave Brubeck, and Stanley Jordan.  Once they were all seated in the amphitheater, the Grandparents and Parents began the ceremony to Bette Midler’s “Wind Beneath My Wings”.  “Sharp Dressed Man” by ZZ Top was on tap for the entrance of the Groom and Groomsmen, and let me tell you, the couple’s Son Nigel, who was best man, was the hit of the event, playing air guitar all the way down the aisle!  Next was the entrance of the Maid of Honor to “Setembro” by Chris Botti, and the bride’s entrance to “That’s When I Knew” by Alicia Keys.  The couple took part, along with Nigel in the sand ceremony to “Change The World” by Eric Clapton, and recessed to The Allman Brothers’ “Little Martha”.

The guests then moved to the terrace for relaxing cocktails and hors devours to more Jazz.  DJ Mark Toney, one of our other talented DJs performed the introductions and the remainder of the reception.  All in all it was a beautiful wedding ceremony, in the simplest of settings surrounded by the gorgeous gardens.

Several amazing vendors took part in the day’s festivities such as Casey Rose Photography, Shutterbooth photobooth, Ice Occasions’ ice sculpture, Sugarland for the cake, florist Tre Bella , and The Catering Company of Chapel Hill.
