Beth and Andy’s reception took place in the historic Golden Belt building in Durham, NC at The Cotton Room. This is one of my favorite buildings in Durham and I get so excited to play here. Fun fact: The guys that do my website have an office right below The Cotton Room, I’m so darn jealous of those Cuberis guys! But anyway, the guests began arriving around 6:30 after having been to an earlier in the day ceremony. I had some great cocktail tunes playing all hand-picked by the bride and groom.

For the introductions, we did three songs; “Happy” by Pharrell for most of the bridal party, “Dynamite” by Taio Cruz for the kids, and finally “I Will Wait” by Mumford & Sons for the couple. They then went right into their first dance “Ho Hey” by The Lumineers. Now, instead of starting the salads, Andy and Beth wanted people to start dancing! So dance they did! We did about 25 minutes and then everyone sat down for the salad course. The father of the bride welcomed everyone and the uncle of the bride gave a lovely blessing, and then it was eating time! But between courses, guess what? More dancing! Beth danced with her dad to “I Want to Hold Your Hand” Glee version, and Andy and his mom danced to Billy Joel’s “Just The Way You Are”. Then more party tunes! Folks rocked until the entrees came out! The food was awesome by the way. Triangle Catering always rocks it.

As dinner concluded, it was time for more dancing all the way up until the cake cutting at which point, an ice cream sundae bar opened up! Talk about deliciousness!  After that, even more dancing, all the way up until midnight and their last song which was “Raging Fire” by Phillip Phillips. The guests left after that one in order to send Beth and Andy off under a shower of sparklers. What a great party! I am looking forward to seeing Big Star’s photos!
