Wow! What a holiday season! I’m beat, but did a ton of great parties. The month kicked off at Brier Creek Country Club on 12/6 with a holiday party for the company Freudenberg IT. When I looked at the contract the week before, I was thinking, “there is no way this will last 6 hours”. But guess what? It did, and they partied the whole time! Not only did they have DJ Joe Bunn, but they had Accapology, an a capella group from NC State do several songs with choreography, tons of raffle prizes, and great food! What a way to start the month!
On 12/13, I did a huge holiday party at Marbles for James Scott Farrin attorneys. They went all out with food from Rocky Top Catering, me, and also the band The Maxx! We went back and forth between DJ and band and those lawyers got down!
On 12/14, I did my biggest holiday party for Hendrick Auto Park. I have been doing this group for years, and it is quite the blowout. The room at Prestonwood is decked to the nines by Themeworks. This year they gave away tons of cash and prizes (as usual), but also set up a full game show version of “Family Feud”! That was a trip watching the teams compete. Once the dancing started, it was on until the very last song. I love working for these folks!
On Friday 12/20, I had the chance to do a private party at The Architect in downtown Raleigh for a big group of friends that went to UNCW together. They mostly chilled by the bar and danced at the end, but it was a great party & reunion nonetheless. Plus, I got to see some old friends as well!
12/21’s event was in my hometown of Wilson, NC for a  sweet 16 party. It was behind a home where I actually used to play football when I was a kid. They had put up a tent, multiple Christmas trees, and then I brought in my sound and lights and turned the place into a mini club. The kids were all over the place hanging out, but I got them going! It turned out to be a great party. Several of the kids had parents there that are my friends. Man, I felt old!
Which brings us to New Year’s Eve! Once again, I was back at Wakefield Plantation for the family New Year’s Eve party I’ve been doing there for a few years. There are so many reasons I love this gig: 1-I’m done at 9, 2-It’s a great party, 3-My family gets to come and partake! What more can a mobile DJ ask for? This year’s theme was all about New York city complete with decor looking like the Subway, a stadium and even a concession stand complete with popcorn and hot dogs. The food looked great! We did a mock “ball drop” around 7:30 and then parents and kids danced the night away until 9:00. I was home by 10:oo with a bag of Snoopy’s watching Seacrest! Nice!
To start the year off right, I did another gig that I do yearly…the employee party for the staff at the famous Umstead Hotel in Cary. They hold their party at Prestonwood and it’s always a good time. After a few door prizes, some food, and words from their GM, they are ready to party. I played everything from Motown to hip hop to bachata that night and the guests loved it! What a way to start 2014.
This is gonna be a good year! Happy New Year readers! Many thanks!
