Sorry for not posting this one sooner, but I went on vacation for a bit after this wedding. I’m back for a couple of days though and wanted to blog about Tony and Maggie’s awesome reception at the NC Museum of Art. The evening started with a receiving line so the couple decided not to do a formal introduction. Instead, there was a welcome and then their first dance by Rogue Wave called “Eyes”. I had never heard the song, but loved it! Maggie danced with her dad to “Dock of the Bay” and Tony and his mother danced to “Change the World” by Eric Clapton.

After the formal dances, I thought I would play some more background music as people ate and mingled, but this crowd wasn’t having it…they were ready to Party! So that’s what we did. I started out with some of the older tracks on Maggie and Tony’s list and had the crowd going, but we had to take a pause for the cake cutting (Cinda’s) and some amazing toasts. The highlight of the night was the last toast. Tony’s brother, a soldier stationed in Afghanistan, had video taped his best man’s toast and we played the video on a big screen. He was great, both funny and caring, it was super emotional for everyone, including myself. Amazing though. I’ll never forget that, and neither will anyone in attendance. Right after that, we kicked back into dance mode and I was all over the place mixing from their playlist. At one point, I realized that Biggie mixed with “Africa” by Toto and I sold it! People went mental! This was a great reception and I hope that Tony and Maggie have a long and happy lifetime together!
