Stephanie and David’s reception took place this past Saturday at Scharf Hall on Duke’s Campus. If you are a Duke sports fan, this building is basically like a shrine! Literally a museum of all of their achievements, but not my thing since I’m a Tar Heel. LOL. On to the details…

The day started with guests arriving to some excellent drinks and bites and once the bridal party (which was massive) arrived, I lined them up for the intro. They came in to “Everything” by Michael Buble and once the newlyweds hit the floor, they went right into their first dance “Young at Heart” by Sinatra. They had a beautifully choreographed dance and the crowd ate it up! After the dance, the father of the groom gave a brief welcome and the buffet opened.

As dinner ended, it was time to move forward with the toasts from the best man and maid of honor, the cake cutting and the other special dances. Stephanie and her uncle danced to “Wonderful Tonight” by Clapton and David and his mom danced to Bill Withers’ “Lovely Night for Dancing”. They did about a minute of the song and then I got everyone up to finish the song with them and to kick off open dancing. From there it was off to the races! I was mixing all types of music for the next 90 minutes and the guests were rocking! We took a brief pause for the bouquet toss (“All I Wanna Do” by Sheryl Crow) and garter toss (“Foxey Lady” by Hendrix) and then more dancing. We partied right up to 11:00 when we played the last song “Send Me On My Way” by Rusted Root and the guests grabbed sparklers for the big sendoff. What a great reception! Congrats to David & Stephanie Shaner! A big Thank You to Jamie Howell with JLE Events for keeping things running smoothly.
