Kate and Tyler’s wedding on Saturday was on a gorgeous day! So pretty that I went to the UNC game (they actually won!) before their reception with my fam. Guests started arriving at the Museum of Art just past 6:00 and were treated to passed drinks and food and a special treat, Janis Joplin’s Porsche that is currently on display at the museum. How cool is that?! Around 7:00, I did a brief introduction, just the parents, matron of honor, best man and of course bride and groom to “Signed, Sealed, Delivered”. As Kate and Tyler hit the dance floor, I had everyone move in as I played their first dance, “You Are The Best Thing” by Ray Lamontagne. Anyone that reads my blog or tweets knows how much I love Ray. Great song choice! After their dance, Kate and her father danced to “To Sir With Love” by Lulu. That was the first time I had played that one. Finally, Tyler and his mother danced to “How Sweet It Is” by Marvin Gaye.

As for the formalities, that was pretty much it other than a cake cutting around 8:45. Ambrosia did the cake, by the way, and it was gorgeous.  My plan was to let people mingle, eat and drink after the special dances but a few people were more than eager to hit the dance floor, so I went ahead and put the party in gear and for over 3 hours straight people danced! Kate and Tyler didn’t even want to leave! This was a great reception and I was so pleased to do Kate’s wedding since I had also done her sister Lillian’s wedding almost 3 years ago! I’m part of their family now! I can’t wait to get some pictures from Tammy Wingo. I know that there is a good one of me, Kate, and Lillian in there somewhere!
