Anyone who knows me knows how perfect this couple was for me to DJ their wedding on August 11th!  Sara and Bryan love Disney and were even engaged at Disney World.

umstead hotel wedding dj bunny dj companyTheir ceremony was held at The Umstead across the hall from where I was set up.  They had The Triangle String Quartet provide music for the ceremony.  Reverend Perry Hardison was there to officiate for them and bless the meal later. I always love working with him!

After the ceremony, the 150 guests made their way across the hall for cocktails, passed hors d’oeuvres and the Island Sounds photo booth.  During the social hour I had a mix of classic soul, standards and of course Disney songs playing. After pics and video were done inside the ballroom by Brian Mullins Photography and Twenty-One Films, the doors to the ballroom opened and planner Kelley Ann from A Southern Soiree invited guest to their seats.  I introduced the wedding party to “Treasure” and Sara and Bryan to “Safe And Sound” by Capital Cities.  They came in for their first dance to “Perfect” by Ed Sheeran. The dance floor had an amazing cartoon of Cinderella’s Castle that Island Sounds played all night along with purple uplights around the room.  Just perfect!!  After their dance Sara’s Father welcomed everyone, toasted the Bride & Groom and Perry blessed the meal.  The salads and entrees came out and I continued with music like cocktails.

After dinner we had the Cinda’s Creative Cake cutting to “Better Together”.  The cake topper was just awesome!  It had a likeness of Sara with Mickey Mouse ears on and Bryan holding a Storm Trooper helmet. After the cake cutting we had toasts and parents dances. Sara and her Father danced to “Butterfly Kisses” and Bryan’s dance followed to “A Mother’s Song”.  Before opening the floor to everyone, we had an anniversary dance to “The Way You Look Tonight” with the winners at 59 years married!! It was really close!  The runner up was 58 years.  Congratulations to both couples!!  I opened the floor to everyone with “Uptown Funk” that filled it for the next 1 ½ hours.  We paused for the bouquet toss to “Isn’t She Lovely”, then back to dancing.

Before playing the last couple songs I polled the guests to see which version of “Wagon Wheel” they would rather hear with Old Crow winning by a long shot.  The last song for everyone was “Adventure Of A Lifetime” by Coldplay and I invited everyone to the lobby doors for a bubbles exit.  When the room was cleared I played one last song, “Reflecting Light” by Sam Phillips for Sara and Bryan to have a private dance to before leaving.

Thank you for everything Sara, Bryan, Amanda and Kelley Ann!  I had the best time!!

Their ceremony was held on the back lawn with live music performed by jazz trio The Boulevard Ensemble.  After the ceremony and breaking of the glass, they made their way to the cocktail hour on the back patio and inside the pre-function area.  The trio provided music for this too.  After the cocktail hour, the doors to the ballroom opened and the guests found their seats with help from GINA!! from A Southern Soiree.  The room looked amazing with arrangements by Embellished Blooms! I introduced just Stephanie and Harris to “It Had To Be You” by Harry Connick Jr.  They came in and had their first dance to “When I Fall In Love” by Nat King Cole.  Her Father welcomed everyone and the salads and entrees came out.  During dinner I had a mix of standards, soft rock and classic soul playing.

After dinner we had the toasts and Ashley Cakes cutting to “Love And Happiness” by Al Green. Stephanie & her Father had their dance to “Unforgettable” by Nat and Natalie Cole before an anniversary dance.  I invited all the married couples to open the floor to dance to “These Arms Of Mine”. The winning couple was married 62 years! WOW!!  I opened the floor to everyone with some oldies and top 40 that filled it within the first song.  They danced hard for the next 2 hours even though the ZimZoom Photo Booth was just outside the door.  I’m sure photographer Hooman from Vesic Photography and videographers Twenty One Films got some amazing dance shots!

The late night snacks of Umstead made pizza came out (so good!!!) and guests continued to dance right up until the last song!  I ended the night with “Hold On” by Wilson Phillips, but they weren’t ready to leave yet and started chanting “one more song”.  I kinda knew that was coming and had “Sweet Caroline” ready.  I invited everyone outside for a confetti cannon exit after.

Thank you Stephanie, Harris, Betsy, Gina, and Amanda!  I had such an amazing time playing for you!

I was honored to be Valerie and Nate’s wedding DJ at The Umstead Hotel in Cary NC on May 19th.

They had the luck of the rain stopping long enough for the ceremony and cocktail hour to be held outside. The lawn overlooks a pond with a fountain in the middle of it.  It is just beautiful!  Their ceremony music was performed by Elegant Ensembles.  After the ceremony the 150 guests made their way to the back patio and inside for passed hors d’oeuvres and refreshments.  They also enjoyed taking fun photos in the ZimZoom Photo booth.

After the cocktail hour, the doors to the ballroom opened and guests found their seats with help from Gina from A Southern Soiree (YAY!!). The room looked beautiful with floral arrangements by Embellished Blooms! I introduced Val and Nate to the intro of “Crazy In Love” by Beyonce.  They came in to loud applause and dropped her bouquet off at the head table.  They made their way back to the dance floor for their first dance to “Everything” by Michael Buble. The parent’s dances followed. Val and her Father danced to “Unforgettable” by Nat King Cole.  Nate escorted his Mother to the floor for their dance to “God Only Knows” by The Beach Boys (LOVE that song!!).  Val’s Father welcomed everyone and the 3 course meal came out.

After dinner Nate and Val thanked everyone for coming followed by the Ashley Cakes cutting to “How Sweet It Is”.  Before opening the floor to everyone we

had an anniversary dance to “Just The Way You Are” with the longest married couple at 48 years!!  I opened the floor to everyone with “Build Me Up Buttercup” that filled it for the next 1.5 hours!  We paused for a bouquet toss to “Single Ladies” and for the late night snacks to come out.  I ended the night with a huge circle dance sing a long to “Sweet Caroline” before a rose petal exit.  I can’t wait to see video by Thomas Blake Films and pics from Anna Routh Photography!

Thank you for everything Valerie, Nate, Amanda & Gina!

The ceremony was held in the back lawn overlooking a pond with a fountain in the middle.  It is just beautiful!  As the guests arrived I had a mix of classical, standards and acoustic rock playing.  When the ceremony was about to begin their Rabbi walked down the aisle and described the ceremony.  The Groomsmen through the flower girl came down to “Better Together” by Guitar Dreamers. Amanda and her Father came down to “Canon In D”. As the ceremony ended they recessed to “This Will Be (An Everlasting Love)”. The Rabbi invited guests to the back patio of The Umstead for the cocktail hour while photographer Kelley Deal took photos of the wedding party.

As a wedding DJ I love a great love story, and Susan and Mark’s is a really good one… and a Wedding at The Umstead Hotel adds to the treat!  They met when they were 16 and 17, dated but nothing serious.  Then, started dating again and 20 and 21, but still nothing serious.  But, after 40 years they saw each other again and now on March 23rd it was the right time!

Now in their 60’s it was time for their wedding at The Umstead Hotel.  The ceremony was held inside for the 40 guests and Arioso Strings covered their music for that and the cocktail hour.  After the cocktail hour was over the doors to the salon opened and guests found their seats.  The room looked beautiful with floral arrangements by Watered Garden.  I’m sure photographer Joe Payne got some great shots!

I introduced Susan and Mark to Harry Connick’s instrumental “It Had To be You” and they came in for their first dance to “Devoted To You” by The Everly Brothers.  Her Matron Of Honor said a toast and William Thorne blessed the meal.  The soup, salads and entrees came out and I had a mix of 50’s and 60’s love songs playing.  I even played “The Ballad Of The Green Berets” for Mark and his fellow Green Berets!

After dinner we had a champagne toast by Mark’s Brother and the cake cutting to “Sugar, Sugar”, then opened the floor with some 50’s and 60’s dance songs and ballads.

Thank you so much for having me as your DJ Susan and Mark and sharing your wonderful love story with me!!

Daniel and Ben’s wedding took place at the incredible Umstead Hotel in Cary, NC. The day began with cocktails outside the ballroom in the pre-function area. We had some great tunes playing and also our photo booth taking pics!

The First Dance

After the guests were seated, I introduced the wedding party to Beyoncé’s “Crazy in Love”. Once Ben and Daniel hit the dance floor, they went into their well choreographed dance to “Come Fly With Me” by the one and only Frank Sinatra. It was the perfect beginning to a great night. Ben’s father welcomed everyone with an amazing speech and toast, the blessing was given, and then dinner was served.

The Dancing

As dinner wrapped, it was time for the cake cutting. I played James Taylor’s “How Sweet It Is” and then several people gave toasts, all of which were great. Next up Ben and Daniel danced with their mothers to “Stand by Me”. About 2/3 through the song, they switched and danced with their new mothers in law! Super sweet! As the final notes of that song ended, it was time to open the dance floor. I had tons of requests from the couple and only 90 minutes to rock, so I was ripping through songs fast! From song one until “Last Dance” by Donna Summer, this party raged. I loved every minute of it. Check out the sneak peek photo by Martha Manning. I can’t wait to see the film by Twenty One Films! Congrats Ben & Daniel! Thanks for having me!

Shira and Josh knew they wanted to have a fun dance party wedding at The Umstead Hotel on October 8th, and boy did they!! I was beyond thrilled to work with some of my favorite co-vendors in A Southern Soiree, Azul Photography, Twenty-One Films, Tre Bella, Sugarland, Arioso Strings and Zim Zoom Photo booth.

The Wedding Ceremony

The ceremony was held on the side lawn overlooking a beautiful pond. The rain held off just long enough for the ceremony. Arioso Strings was there to provide music again. After the ceremony the 160 guests made their way inside for the cocktail hour.

The First Dance

After the cocktail hour was over and pics were taken by Christobal, Megan invited guests into the ballroom for dinner and dancing. I introduced only Shira and Josh to “Crazy In Love” and they came in for their first dance to “You Are The Sunshine Of My Life” by Stevie Wonder. His Grandfathers blessed the bread and meal and the soups salads and entrees came out. During dinner I had a mix of rock, classic soul and standards playing.

The Dancing

After dinner we had the cake cutting to ‘When I’m Sixty Four” and toasts before opening the floor with the Hora medley. It was amazing to see 150 people jump to their feet and join in within a minute! Some Motown for their parents kept everyone out there and soon I was into some top 40 dance music. I had them dancing had for the next 2 hours to top 40, 80’s and some 2000’s throw backs. We ended the night with “With You” by Chris Brown and finally “The Girl From Ipanema” for Shira’s Father. After that, I invited the guests to join Shira and Josh in the hotel bar.

What a fun night and awesome group to play for! Thank you Shira, Josh, Amanda and Megan!

James & Lauren’s Wedding At The Umstead

I was honored to be James & Lauren’s wedding DJ at one of my favorite venues, The Umstead Hotel in Cary NC on June 17th, 2017. James is in the Army as were some guests and groomsmen.

The Wedding Ceremony

Their ceremony was held in the picturesque back lawn of The Umstead with music provided by Arioso Strings that always do an amazing job!  After a short ceremony, the 140 guests made their way to the reception area. Cocktail, passed hors d’oeuvres and music again by Arioso Strings welcomed them.  After pics were taken by Cara from F8 Photo Studios, the doors to the ballroom opened and guests found their seats with help from The Umstead’s Amanda and A Southern Soiree’s Alyssa..  The room looked & smelled amazing with floral arrangements by Tre Bella!

The Reception

I introduced the wedding party to “Downtown” by Macklemore and Lauren & James came in to loud applause.  They took their seats and Lauren’s Father welcomed everyone followed by a blessing by her Godfather.  The 3 course meal came out and I had a mix of rock, classic soul, country & standards playing.  After each course we had a different toast that made the time fly by.  After all the toasts and a thank you from James & Lauren, we had the Cinda’s Cake cutting to “Lucky”.  They made their way to the dance floor for their first dance to “Can’t Help Falling In Love” by Elvis and then the parents dances. Lauren danced with her Father to “Father & Daughter” by Paul Simon & James & his Mother to “Sweet Baby James”.

I opened the floor to everyone with motown that filled it instantly.  I cleared the floor for a flash mob dance to “Uptown Funk” that her Aunt started.  It was so fun and really set the tone for how fun this reception was going to be!  The floor stayed packed after that for the rest of the night.  I think I even saw a few sets of feet in the air from the dance floor at a couple points toward the end of the night.

The Finale

We paused for the bouquet toss to “Love On Top” and garter toss to “Fat Bottom Girls”.  Some classic rock sing a longs ended the night with the last song of “Rosalita” by Bruce Springsteen.  Thank you so much Lauren, James, Amanda & Alyssa.  I had a blast and loved every minute of the reception!  AND, thank you James and other military for your service to our country!!!!

An Amazing Wedding at the Umstead Hotel

Heidi and Russell chose Cary NC’s five star Umstead Hotel for their beautiful wedding ceremony and reception on March 31st, 2017.

The Wedding Ceremony

Their ceremony was held in the back lawn of the Hotel and officiated over by Reverend David James that always does a great job. He gives a very heartfelt service and adds a little humor. They had live strings provide the music.

The Cocktail Hour

As the ceremony ended, the guests made their way around the back of the building to the outdoor terrace as well as the indoor prefuction area for cocktails and passed hors d’oeuvres. Their live musician played this part as well.

The Intoductions

After pics were taken by Robin & Stacy from Robin Lin Photography & video by Denim Buffalo Films the doors to the ballroom opened. I had music playing and went out to line the wedding party up with help from Alyssa from A Southern Soiree and Amanda from The Umstead. Heidi looked like the perfect southern belle! I introduced the wedding party to “How Sweet It is” by James Taylor. They came in to thunderous applause and welcomed everyone followed by a blessing by Heidi. The food stations opened and I had a mix of rock, country & soul playing.

The Dances

After dinner we had the toasts that included Heidi’s sisters written rap to “Fresh Prince” theme. After that was the cake cutting to “In My Life” by The Beatles. They made their way to the dance floor for their first dance to “More Than Words” that Russell explained he loved the song and knew he would meet Heidi someday. She had her dance with her father to “Somewhere Over The Rainbow” that her mother sang live. She did a great job and it was a very special moment! Russell danced with his mother to “Unforgettable” and we had a reverse anniversary dance to “Stand By Me”. I opened the floor to everyone with some Motown and top 40 that filled it shortly. We paused for the bouquet and garter tosses to “Pretty Woman” and “Another One Bites The Dust”. A full dance floor again followed until the end of the evening.

For their last dance I played “Carolina In My Mind” and they had a bubble exit from the terrace. What a fun group and very sweet couple. Thank you Heidi, Russell, Amanda & Alyssa!
