Rachel and Jeff are one of the most thankful couples I have ever worked with!  They thanked everyone working each many times that day for being there for them.  So sweet!!

Merrimon Wynne wedding dj Bunn dj companyTheir ceremony was held on the side lawn of downtown Raleigh’s Merrimon-Wynne on a picture perfect November 17th.  I ran a mic for Reverend Kayelily Middleton and also one for Jeff, as well as all the music.  As guests arrived I had a mix of contemporary love songs playing.  The Parents and wedding party walked down the aisle to “Rise” by Jason Mraz and Rachel and Jeff to his “Love Somebody”.  After a short service that included a love letters ceremony, they recessed to “You Are The Best Thing” by Ray LaMotange.  Kayelily invited the guests into the house for cocktails and I got ready for the reception.

After the cocktail hour the 90 guests made their way into the carriage house for dinner and dancing. The room looked beautiful with my uplighting along with floral arrangements by Wylde Flowers. I left music playing and went inside the house to line the wedding party up for intros with planner Jessica from Happily Ever After.  I introduced them to the intro of ”My Type” by Saint Motel and Rachel and Jeff entered to the chorus of the song.  Jeff welcomed everyone and the salads came out before the Donovan’s Dish buffet opened.  During dinner I had a mix of indie and soft rock, standards and classic soul playing.

After dinner they had a private Cupcake Shoppe cake cutting and the toasts before their first dance to “Coming Home” by Leon Bridges. LOVE that song!!  I invited all the married couples to the floor for an anniversary dance to “The Way You Look Tonight” by Sinatra with the winners married over 49 years!  I opened the floor to everyone with Motown and Top 40 that filled it for the next 2 hours.

I ended the night with a last dance to “Love Never Felt So Good” by Michael Jackson and Justin before sending everyone to the front of the house for a glowstick exit.  After everyone had left the room Rachel and Jeff had an intimate private last dance to “The One” by Kodaline before their exit. It is just the most precious moment! I can’t wait to see the pics by photographer Kristin Moore and video by Thomas Blake Films!

Thank you for everything Rachel, Jeff, Kaila and Jessica!  I was thrilled and honored to spend my day with you and your guests!

Taryn and MG chose the historic and amazing Merrimon-Wynne House to have their ceremony and reception this past Saturday. They actually got married outside and it couldn’t have been a prettier fall day. The ceremony took place at 4pm and with the sun setting so early, this was a perfect time, not yet even chilly! We provided the audio while Arioso Strings handled the music. They were great as always.

merrimon wynne wedding bunn dj companyAfter the ceremony, the guests went inside the original house, while the final touches were put on the Carriage House setup where dinner and dancing were to take place.  Around 5:40pm, the guests entered and then introductions were next. The bridal party and newlyweds entered to the Bruno Mars song “24K Magic”. The crowd went wild as Taryn and MG entered and went to the center of the dance floor for their first dance to “From This Moment” by Shania Twain. I’ve been playing this a lot more lately. It must be making a comeback! After the first dance, Taryn and her father danced to “I Loved Her First” by Heartland and then MG and his mom danced to “My Wish” by Rascal Flats. Next up was a welcome from Taryn’s mother and then a blessing from Pastor David (who was also the officiant). They also did the cake cutting before dinner, which I kind of liked! You should have seen the SIX cakes by Hayes Barton Dessertery! Dinner came out next prepared by Donovan’s Dish.

After dinner, it was basically all open dancing for about 2+ hours and this crowd didn’t let me down. They rocked hard! The end of the night was a sparkler departure. What a great wedding! As always, our friends at A Southern Soiree did a great job planning. Looking forward to some great photos from Caroline Lima.

Laura and James’ wedding at Merrimon Wynne in downtown Raleigh, NC was so much fun on October 19th! It was awesome playing for so many guests from Boston and Chicago.

Merrimon Wynne wedding dj Bunn Dj companyTheir ceremony was held on the side lawn and I provided mics and music.  As the 150 guests arrived I had a mix of classical piano versions of pop songs playing.  The guests took their seats and the ceremony started. The wedding party entered to “Butterfly Waltz” by Brian Crane from The Piano Guys.  Laura entered to “A Thousand Years” by Piano Guys.  After a short service by their friend Domino that included hand written vows, they recessed to “You Are The Best Thing” by Ray LaMontagne.

The cocktail hour was held in the Merrimon Wynne house.  Guests enjoyed refreshments and passed hors d’oeuvres by Beau’s catering. After pics were taken by photographer Jim Colman, the guests were invited into the carriage house for dinner by planner extraordinaire Stephanie from Viva L’Event.  The room looked beautiful with floral arrangements by North Raleigh Florist and uplights by me.  I left music playing and joined Stephanie inside the house to help line the wedding party up for introductions.

I introduced each group of 2 or 3 to their own song they picked to walk in to.  Laura and James came in to “Chelsea Dagger” (Love that song!!!) and had their first dance to “Be Mine” by David Gray.  They took their seats after and Beau described the meal and how the food stations would work. The plated salads came out and I played a mix of rock, standards and classic soul during dinner.

After dinner we had the toasts and cake cutting to “I Can’t Help Myself”.  Then Parents dances followed.  Laura and her Father danced to “I Loved Her First” and James & his Mother to “What A Wonderful World”.  I opened the floor to everyone with some Motown & top 40 that soon filled it for the night. I played lots of 80’s and 90’s for them. At one moment a guest jumped up on to a chair in the middle of the dance floor to lead everyone in a call and response to “Let Me Clear My Throat”.  He was amazing and spot on!! We ended the night with a tribute to Laura’s Mother, Ann, to her favorite song “Red, Red Wine” that filled the floor with everyone singing it in her honor!  It was so great!!  The last dance was to “Sweet Caroline” before a sparkler exit from the front of the house.

Thank you Laura, James, Kaila and Stephanie!

I met Sandra and Matthew a couple times before their wedding and had the best time talking to them and learning about their dream wedding..and Halloween party! The ceremony and reception were held at the Merrimon Wynne and I provided mics for the ceremony as music for the reception.

merrimon wynne wedding dj bunn dj companyThe ceremony was held on the back lawn with live music by The Nelson Quartet.  I ran mics for their officiant Tim, Matthew during the reading of their vows, a reader and even for the quartet when they performed a song co-written by Matthew during the time capsule sealing.  It was a wonderful piece!!  The reading was also awesome! Part biblical, part Princess Bride.  Perfect!!  After the ceremony the guests made their way inside the house for the cocktail hour while photographers Russell-Killen and videographer Alexander Rivera got some shots on the lawn.

After the cocktail hour, the 120 guests made their way to the carriage house where I was for dinner, dancing and the Halloween party.  I introduced the wedding party to “Jock Jams” and Sandra and Matthew to “Good Lovin’” by The Rascals.  They had their first dance to “Can’t Take My Eyes Off You” by Frankie Valli. Her parents welcomed everyone and his parents blessed the meal.  Chef Beau described the amazing meal and the salads came out. During dinner I had a wonderful playlist made by them that included jazz, soft rock & classic soul.

After dinner we had the toasts and parents dances.  Matthew and his Mother danced to a special edit he made of “Forever Young” by Audra Mae and Sandra and her Father to “Colour My World” by Chicago.  I opened the floor to everyone with “Get Up Offa That Thing” by James Brown while they had some large family group pictures taken out on the lawn. After pics were taken and some dancing, we had the cake cutting to “Short Skirt/Long Jacket by Cake.  Back to dancing a little before we paused for the garter/bouquet tosses.  They switched things up for this.  I invited the single guys to the floor for the garter toss, but Matthew was wearing the garter.  Tricked everyone!! She threw the garter and he threw the bouquet to the single ladies.

After the tosses we changed the uplights to purple and turned on the haze machine for the Halloween party that Sandra made another great playlist for.  We ended the night with “Thriller” and a sparkler exit from the front of the house.

Thank you Sandra, Matthew and Kaila!!

I always love DJing weddings at downtown Raleigh’s Merrimon-Wynne and Lindsay and Jimmy’s wedding was no exception!  They were so excited every time I talked to them!!

merrimon wynne wedding dj bunn dj companyThe ceremony was held on the side lawn and I provided a mic for their officiant Brian Crisp and music.  As the guests arrived I had a mix of classical music playing.  Jimmy and the wedding party entered to an instrumental of “Home” by Cinematic Orchestra.  Lindsay and 4 adorable children walked down the aisle, then joined by her Sister and Mother to enter to “In Reverence” by David Tolk. She looked beautiful with makeup and hair by Ashley Mooney! After a wonderful service by Brian, they recessed to Eddie Vedder’s “Hard Sun” and he invited guests inside the house for the cocktail hour.

During the cocktail hour I had a mix of classic and current standards playing.  The guests enjoyed lawn games outside, passed hors d’oeuvres by caterers from Rocky Top and cocktails.  After pics were taken by Cara and Dax from F8 Photo Studios, planner Sally from Sally Oakley Weddings invited the 130 guests to the carriage house where I was for dinner and dancing.  I left music playing and went inside the house to help Sally line the wedding party up for introductions. The carriage house looked gorgeous with floral arrangements by Watered Garden.

I introduced them to “You’re My Best Friend” by Queen.  They came in to loud applause and had their first dance to a shortened edit I made for them of “Make You Feel My Love” by Adele.  They took their seats after that and the salads and entrees came out.  During dinner I played more standards.

After dinner we had the toasts followed by one of the best parts of the night!  Lindsay and her guest Ryan had a Father/Daughter tribute dance to “My Destiny” by Lionel Richie.  It was just the best and really set the tone for the rest of the night!  Jimmy and his Mother danced to “My Wish” after that.  I opened the floor to everyone with “The Cupid Shuffle” that filled it and some Motown and 80’s kept them dancing.  They had a cigar station with a live hand roller outside as well as am amazing dessert station that opened.

We were supposed to end the night with “Don’t Stop Believing”, which we did. BUT, Cara asked me to play one more slow song for a private dance for Lindsay & Jimmy, so I played “Sun Comes Up” by John Legend as a surprise.  Lindsay’s mouth dropped when I started t, then she started singing it to Jimmy. I had made a note during our original meeting and I’m so glad I did!  It was just perfect and one of the best moment of the night (other than Ryan and Lindsay’s dance).

Congratulations Lindsay and Jimmy and thank you Abby, Sally and Victoria!

Cate and Matt’s ceremony and reception both took place at the gorgeous historic Merrimon-Wynne House in downtown Raleigh, NC. I will have to give Cate credit. She must have seen the future on Sunday morning before the wedding because she pulled the plug on doing an outdoor ceremony and opted to have it in The Carriage House. She was so right in doing so! Right around the ceremony start time, the bottom fell out and the storm that followed was end of days type stuff! Good call on indoors!

After the ceremony, the guests scurried into the original house for cocktails. We had tunes playing in there of course as we handled the room flip. We got the DJ booth, uplighting and dance floor lighting set up just before guests were allowed back in. Intros were next. The bridal party came in to “Can’t Stop The Feeling” by Timberlake and Cate and Matt entered to “Safe and Sound” by Capital Cities.

As soon as they hit the dance floor, they went into their first dance, “You Make It Easy” by Jason Aldean. Cate and her dad danced to “My Wish” next and then Matt and his mom danced to “Because You Loved Me” by Celine Dion. I was so excited that I accidentally opened the dance floor, but had to reel it in for a few minutes due to them having their cake cutting inside! Once guests got back outside, the party really started to bounce. I ripped through all types of requests from the bride and groom with no other stops. Around 11:00, we closed out the night with a huge singalong to “Sweet Caroline” and then I sent them off for a sparkler departure along with horse and carriage! What a night! Shout out to the vendor team: La Fete (planning), HL Catering (food), Riley McLean (photos). Great wedding!

When I saw Lowell and Carolyn walk up to me at the Merrimon Wynne wedding showcase last year I was praying they would have me as their wedding DJ!  I have known Lowell for years from when I was a swing dance DJ and he was a dancer.  I knew this would be an awesome party with lots of friends I don’t see very much.

merrimon wynne wedding dj bunn dj companyTheir ceremony was on the side lawn and I provided mics and music.  The Parents entered to “I’ve Got A Crush On You” by Ella Fitzgerald and Lowell through Bridesmaids to “At Last”.  The perfect song since they have been together for years.  Carolyn entered to a shortened edit I made her of “My One And Only Love” by John Coltrane and Johnny Hartman.  I LOVE that song (whole album!!). After a short ceremony with a couple readings, they recessed to the gospel song “Up Above My Head” by Rhiannon Giddens.

The guests made their way inside the house to escape the heat and get refreshments.  During the cocktail hour I had a mix of classic soul, big band, soft rock, ska, and a couple swing tracks playing.  It was an awesome playlist!!  After pics were taken by amazing photographer Autumn Harrison, planner Amanda from Amanda Blair By Design invited guests to the carriage house for dinner and dancing.  The room looked beautiful with floral arrangements by Bowerbird Flowers.

I introduced just Carolyn and Lowell to “Superbad” by James Brown (hahaha) and they danced into the room for their now second dance, this time swing, to “My Baby Just Cares For Me” by Nina Simone. Their fathers welcomed everyone and RJ blessed the meal.  During the Snap Pea served dinner I had a mix of standards, big band, 80’s, rock and classic soul playing.

After dinner we had the toasts and parents dances to “My Girl”. I opened the floor to everyone with some classic Motown, “The Electric Slide” and ever  “Before I Let Go” by Maze (another of my fav songs ever!). For the next 2 hours guests danced to oldies, some swing (of course), rockabilly, lots of 80’s and a few ballads.

We ended the night with “Still The One” by Shania Twain before the rickshaws arrived to take people to an after party.  Thank you so much Carolyn, Lowell, Amy and Amanda!!  It was an absolute honor and I had the best time!

I was back to The Merrimon Wynne House again for another wedding this weekend, this time for Molly & Chip on August 4th.  They are so nice and both Dentists.

The ceremony was held inside the carriage house and I was there to provide mics and music.  The room looked beautiful with floral arrangements by Brides & Bouquets! The Grandparents and Parents entered to “How Deep The Father’s Love For Us”.  The Bridesmaids entered to “Canon In D” and Molly to a cover of “A Thousand Years” by violinist Jun Sung Ahn.  After a short service that included a reading they recessed to “Signed, Sealed, Delivered” and the 175 guests were invited into the house for cocktails.

After pics were done by Melissa Delorme and video by Thomas Blake Films, planner Jessica from Happily Ever After invited guests back to the carriage house for the reception.  I introduced the wedding party to “Levels” by Avicii and Molly & Chip to “Space Jam”. LOL!!  They came in for their first dance to “Forever Like That” by Ben Rector. After the wedding party took their seats Molly had her dance with her Father to “Never Alone”.  Chip and his Mother’s dance followed to “Like Jesus Does”.  Molly’s Father welcomed everyone and blessed the meal.  The plated salads came out and the Rocky Top buffet opened shortly. During dinner I played a mix of rock, country and classic soul.

After dinner we had the toasts and cake cutting to “How Sweet It is”. I opened the floor with some beach, Motown and Top 40 that filled it for the next hour and a half.  We paused for Chip’s past baseball team to “retire” his jersey and then dance to “Danza Kuduro”. So great!!  I even got to play a short 2010’s hip hop mix that kept the energy way high!!  They danced hard until the last dance to “Carolina” by Eric Church. They all made a big circle and sang it to Molly & Chip who were in the middle. Everyone went to the front of the house for a sparkler exit.

Thank you so much for everything Molly, Chip. Jessica and Kaila

I was back at The Merrimon Wynne House again, this time to celebrate with Rachel & Jon at their wedding.  I was so honored to be chosen to DJ their reception!

The ceremony was held in the Carriage House for 100 guests.  They had a wonderful violinist provide music and floral arrangements by Fallons Flowers.  After a short ceremony the guests were invited into the house for the cocktail hour by Kaila from Merrimon-Wynne.  While the guests enjoyed cocktails and hors d’oeuvres, the staff from Donovan’s Dish flipped the carriage house for dinner.

After the room was set and pics were taken by Zach & Kate from Garter & Whiskey Photography, the guests were invited back to the carriage house for dinner and dancing.  I introduced the wedding party to “The Olympics Theme” and Rachel & Jon to “Star Wars”.  They came in to loud applause and had their first dance to “Mean To me” by Brett Eldridge.  The Parents dances followed.  Rachel and her Father’s dance was to “Here Comes The Sun”.  It was so sweet! They were singing it to each other like they used to when she was a little girl.  Jon escorted his Mother to the floor for their dance to “What A Wonderful World” by Louis Armstrong.  Jon welcomed everyone and the family style dinner came out.  During dinner I had a mix of standards playing.

After dinner we had the toasts and cake cutting to “This Will Be (An Everlasting Love)”.  While the staff cut the rest of the cake and passed it out I opened the floor with some beach music and top 40.  People danced and enjoyed the outdoor lawn games, basketball throw and air hockey they brought in for this wedding.  The ZimZoom photo booth was also there to get some great pics of the guests.

After dancing for an hour and a half it was time to call it a night.  The last dance was to “Wagon Wheel” by Old Crow Medicine Show and they had a sparkler exit from the front of the house.  Thanks you so much for everything Rachel & Jon and congratulations!

I always LOVE playing for guests from other countries!  I have played for so many including Africa, Scotland, Ireland, and yes, even France before. I was so thrilled to play for Michael, Lauren and her friends and family from France!

The ceremony was held earlier in the day at the new Holy Name Of Jesus Cathedral. It is just gorgeous there!!  After the ceremony guests had a little break to rest before coming over to The Merrimon Wynne House for the reception. The cocktail hour was held inside the house and guests enjoyed drinks and passed hors d’oeuvres.

After the cocktail hour the 100 guests were invited into the carriage house where I was by planner Casey from Events By La Fete.  After everyone had found their seats I introduced Lauren and Michael to “Can’t Stop The Feeling”. As soon as I said their names one table in the corner started chanting in French, then the opposite one joined in.  Pretty soon the whole room was chanting in French and banging the table.  It was like being at the world cup!! Not kidding!!  So awesome!!  They finally quieted down and Lauren and Michael could have their first dance to “Die A Happy Man”.   Her Parents welcomed everyone in English and French, his Father blessed the meal in English and her Grandfather said the blessing in French.  So wonderful and truly special. During dinner I had a mix of rock, French pop songs, classic soul and country playing.

After dinner we had toasts both in English and French and the Parents dances.  Lauren and her Father danced to “Do You Remember” by Phil Collins.  Michael and his Mother’s dance was to “Because You Loved Me” by Celine Dion.  I opened the floor to everyone with “Uptown Funk” that filled it with both sides of the families!  For the next 2 hours I mixed from English to French in short sets that kept everyone dancing no matter what language it was in.  I even played a French line dance called “Last Night” that is similar to “The Electric Slide”.

We paused for the cake cutting to “How Sweet It Is” and a French sing a long to “P’tit Fluer Fanee” that Casey handed out lyric sheets for.  After that we went back to dancing until the end of the night.  We closed down the floor with “Sweet Caroline” before a sparkler exit from the front of the house.  I can’t wait to see the pics by Krista from Six Foot Photography!

Thank you so much Lauren, Michael, Casey and Abby!  I had an amazing time!!
