Rachel & David’s Wedding Under The Stars

Rachel and David’s wedding ceremony and reception at The Sutherland took place completely outdoors, and I mean literally. No tent, no pavilion, nothing! Talk about a lucky couple! The weather was amazing all day long, a little chilly at night, but still an incredible day evening under the stars.

The Wedding Ceremony

The day began with a 5:30 PM ceremony located by a very old cabin on the property where the groom and groomsmen always get ready. This was my first time actually doing a ceremony at this part of the property, but it was such a great spot. They had about 70 guests and this was an ideal location to get married. It felt very intimate. I provided a mic for the officiant, Perry Harrison, and also played their requested song choices which were really cool. They had guitar instrumental of Drake and Bruno Mars stuff for the prelude, a part of the “Up” soundtrack, and even Tribe Called Quest for the recessional! My kind of couple!

The Reception

After the ceremony, the guests made their way around to the other side of the house for cocktail hour while I broke down the ceremony system and made final adjustments to get ready for dinner and the reception. After the guests were seated, I did a brief introduction of just the couple. They chose not to do a first dance. Rachel’s mother welcomed everyone and then the incredible Rocky Top Cateringg food stations opened. After dinner, there were four really good toasts from the maid of honor, mother of the bride, best man, and Rachel’s father. Next, Rachel and David cut the cake and dancing started. At first, people were huddled around the outdoor heaters, but I eventually lured them out with some great tunes picked by Rachel and her friends. It was a great party! As always, Megan and Gina from A Southern Soiree made magic with the decor and a perfectly timed day! I can’t wait to see the images from Mikkel Paige Photography.
