I apologize for the delay in cranking out this blog post. January got away from me, then I went on vacation. I’m back and ready to blog about all of the amazingness that 2017 has to offer! Chantal and Wes had their wedding reception at a restaurant that wasn’t even open yet! How? Her father happens to own it. Vidrio is literally one of the prettiest restaurants I’ve ever been to. Period. The day started with a ceremony off property and then most of the guests arriving by bus. I played the cocktail music as guests were greeted to some amazing aerial talents by Elevate. Once the bridal party arrived, I lined them up for introductions and Wes and Chantal went into their first dance “Suitcase” by Steve Moakler. What a great choice and the first time I played it! I then asked the guest to make their way upstairs for dinner. They were greeted by incredible florals by Expressions of Love. Wow! These tables looked incredible. As dinner wrapped, we did the toasts and cake cutting before asking folks to make their way back down to the dance floor area.
Chantal and her father danced to “Unforgettable” by Nat and Natalie Cole and then Wes and his mom danced to “Forever Young” by Audra May. Next, I kicked off my DJ set, not with my normal oldies though, with Greek Music! Chantal and her family are Greek as were a ton of the guests! I was super nervous, but luckily I had called in a ringer. My man DJ Christos Nikos, straight out of Greece, saved the day with some awesome tunes and mega mixes he sent me! They were a hit! After about 15 minutes, the band (yes, they had a band too) kicked in. Big Swing and the Ballroom Blasters were a 16 piece monster sounding band. They opened with some standards and then ran through hit after hit through the night. When they took a break, I did another Greek music set. Many plates were broken (a Greek tradition) and tons of fun was had. I ended the night with some Top 40 and hip hop jams and then sent the newlyweds on their way. What a party! I can’t wait to see the photos from Ginny Corbett and video from Heart Stone Films. Of course, it would have been impossible to pull off an event this big without the awesome planner and her team at Shawn Schindler Events.
