Diana and Tyler’s wedding reception at the NC Museum of Art began with cocktails and amazing food right from the start. I was playing cocktail tunes waiting for the bridal party to arrive and once they did, I got them lined up and ready for introductions. The bridal party came in to “I Can Get Love” by Toro Y Moi and then when Tyler and Diana entered, I switched the song to “Wake Up” by Arcade Fire. Totally original and excellent choices by the couple. My first time playing either!
After the introductions, they went right into their first dance “Eyes on the Prize” by M. Ward. Another great song and a first time play for me again! After the guests got enough to eat, we moved forward in the night with the cake cutting to the song by Band of Horses called “No One’s Gonna Love You”. They didn’t stump me on that song, I love that one! Next, it was Diana and her father’s turn to dance. They started with Queen’s “You’re My Best Friend” and then after about a minute, I cut over to “Crazy Little Thing Called Love” (needless to say, her dad is a classic rock junkie) my kind of guy. After their dance, Tyler and his mom danced to “Murder in the City” by The Avett Brothers. Then, it was time to rock. We didn’t have any other formalities or stops, so it was open dancing for over 2 hours. I think the floor stayed pretty full from start to the last song “We Want the Funk” by Funkaholx. They left with everyone holding LED swords over their heads. What a scene! What a wedding night!
