The Wedding Reception

Liz and Britt’s wedding this past Saturday was at one of my favorite venues, The Umstead in Cary, NC. I love it that I go there for “staycations” every year and act like I’m in Miami! It’s an amazing facility! The guests arrived just before 5:00pm and I had a mix of cocktail tunes playing in the hallway. About an hour later, they made their way into the ballroom and I got the bridal party ready for their intro to “I Believe in a Thing Called Love” by The Darkness. Everyone was on their feet as Liz and Britt hit the dance floor and went right into their first dance “The Heart of Life” by John Mayer. This was my first time playing this one, and I loved it! As the first dance ended, Liz’s dad gave an amazing welcome and toast and then the reverend from their ceremony blessed the food (which was amazing by the way).

The Dancing

As dinner wrapped up, Liz and Britt cut their beautiful multi-layered cake. Next, several folks gave toasts, all of which were awesome! Liz and her father took the dance floor at the conclusion of the toasts and danced to Louis Armstrong’s “What a Wonderful World”. Britt and his mother danced to “My Wish” by Rascal Flatts and then it was party time! I literally had finished saying “Let’s open the dance floor…” and the floor was packed! It stayed that way for the full two hour set! No breaks for bouquet, garter, nothing, just straight up dancing picking from my list and theirs. Side bar, I played A-Ha’s “Take On Me” and it rocked! Great call by the couple! Congrats to the newlyweds and thank you for the extra fast delivery of these sneak peek photos from Libby McGowan!
