Julie and David had their ceremony at Melrose Knitting Mill in downtown Raleigh, NC. If you have not seen this venue, YOU MUST! It’s gorgeous and I’ve loved that building since I moved to Raleigh. I’m so glad to see Babylon (an awesome restaurant) in the first level and MKM on the top. I didn’t do anything for the ceremony, so I got there as the guests were exiting to head to cocktails at Babylon. The room was being flipped and it was chaos, but we managed to get everything set up in less than an hour including 16 uplights and our dancing on the clouds effect (more on that later).

As guests made their way to their seats, I got ready for the intros. Each pairing had their own song which I had custom edited down to the chorus. They used “Feel This Moment” by Pitbull & Aguilera, “Happy” by Pharrell and then “Party Rock Anthem” by LMFAO. Julie and David entered to “Let’s Get Married (remix)” by Jagged Edge which everyone loved. As soon as they were in place for their first dance, I fired up “Thinking out Loud” by Ed Sheeran. When we met earlier in the week, they had expressed interest in an effect that looks like you’re dancing on the clouds. I did a little digging and found a local DJ buddy of mine that happened to be off last Saturday, BOOM, we have clouds! Check out that photo! They loved it and loved it even more when I told them it was my wedding gift to them! That was a great way to start the evening. Next up, Julie and her dad danced to “Dream” by Priscilla Ahn and David and his mother danced to “A Song for my Son” by Mikki Vierick. Dinner was served after the newlyweds gave a sweet welcome, and it looked amazing! As dinner wrapped up, David’s dad gave a funny presentation including some classic old school photos. Dancing started shortly after and we stopped a little later for a few short toasts and the cake cutting. We picked back up and then did a quick bouquet and garter toss, before wrapping it up at 8PM with everyone on the dance floor! An early night, but still a great party! Shout out to Chad Biggs and his staff for doing such a phenomenal job!
