Carmen and Chip’s Wedding reception took place May 13th at a venue literally called “The Family Farm”. It’s literally a farm with cows and the whole nine. Great place for me to DJ a wedding. The day began with their ceremony just outside the tent area. The weather cooperated, they picked amazing music, and the mics worked like a charm. Great start to an awesome day!
After cocktails, I got everyone lined up for introductions. Each pairing had a different song ranging from “Lovely Day” by Bill Withers to “Fine China” by Chris Brown. Carmen and Chip made their big entrance to “I Got You (I Feel Good)” by James Brown and the place erupted! Instead of going into their first dance, the father of the bride welcomed everyone, the blessing was said and the buffet dinner began.
After dinner, we picked it back up with the cake cutting (“How Sweet It Is” by James Taylor), then toasts, and finally their first dance as husband and wife to “My Best Friend” by Tim McGraw. The dance floor opened with some great oldies and wedding classics before we did the father/daughter dance to “Shining Star” by Earth, Wind & Fire and the mother/son dance to “It’s Your Song” by Garth Brooks. More packed dance floor ensued until we did the bouquet toss (“Hot Legs” by Rod Stewart) and garter toss. We surprised Chip with the theme from the show “Cops” during the toss because he is a policeman and so are tons of his friends. He loved it! For the last song, we closed out with “You Are The Best Thing” by Ray Lamontagne and sent the newlyweds off under a shower of sparklers.
