Jake and Whitney’s ceremony and reception both took place at the gorgeous NC Museum of Art this past weekend. The ceremony was in the courtyard on a perfect August day, it wasn’t even that hot! My buddy Ed Sansbury officiated and they had a couple of friends (that were awesome) handle the music. I was finishing up final setup inside the museum. As the guests made their way in, the musicians also came in and played during cocktail hour.
After cocktails, the bridal party was ready for their big intro. I lined them up outside and brought them in to Imagine Dragons’ “On Top of the World”. Great choice guys! After Jake and Whitney entered to thunderous applause, I started their first dance song “Sunrise” by Norah Jones. They did a great first dance as husband and wife. Whitney stayed on the floor and invited her father out for their dance to “Constellations” by Jack Johnson. And finally, Jake and his mother danced to “I Hope You Dance” by Leann Womack. Folks then made their way to the dinner stations for some great food. After everyone got a bite to eat, we knocked out the cake cutting (“Home”-Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros) and then the toasts. As soon as the toasts were completed it was dance floor time!
The guests hit the floor from the very first song and rocked it every single one. We took a brief pause for the bouquet toss (“Single Ladies”-Beyonce) and garter removal (“The Right Stuff”-NKOTB) and garter toss (“Another One Bites the Dust”-Queen). After that, more dancing, all the way up until the big sparkler sendoff. What a night! Check out this amazing photo from Katherine Miles Jones.
