Alix and Evan’s ceremony took place at the amazing Historic Wakefield Barn. This is quickly becoming one of my favorite places to play. Every time I post photos from there during a wedding, people go crazy.

The ceremony was held in the upstairs part of the barn. We handled the mics while an acoustic guitarist did the music. Alix is Episcopalian and Evan is Jewish so they had both a rabbi and a priest. It was a beautiful ceremony!

At the conclusion, the guests went downstairs to where the horses used to live for cocktail hour. During that time, my right hand man Randy and I flipped the room, meaning we took down the ceremony rig and put up my DJ booth, uplights and dance floor lights. The rest of the staff there did the same but with the dinner tables and place settings. The guests were blown away when they came back in.

I got the bridal party lined up for introductions and they entered to “Shut Up and Dance”. When Alix and Evan hit the dance floor everyone was up and cheering. They went right into their really well choreographed first dance to Ed Sheeran’s song “Tenerife Sea”. It was killer…and I worship that song. Alix’s father welcomed everyone and then dinner was served.

After dinner, there were a few toasts and then Alix and Evan got to thank everyone for coming. Soon after, Alix and her dad danced to “Daddy’s Little Girl” by The Shires. Evan and his mom then danced to “What a Wonderful World” by Louis Armstrong.

As I usually do at any type of Jewish event, I opened with the Horah and it was madness on the dance floor for the rest of the night. I mean these people came to party! I played a little bit of everything including a special private dance for the newlyweds as everyone made their way outside to get ready for the departure. Oh, and during the couple’s exit, they had a company come in and make it snow! It was awesome! What a night.
