Brittney & John – Wild Dunes Resort, SC

John Batchelor and Brittney Martoccia made the trip from their home in Indianapolis to Charleston for their picture-perfect Wild Dunes wedding at Wild Dunes Resort on September 19th.

I was able to work with some truly great people on this wedding, including: Samantha Martin and her wonderful team at Wild Dunes Resort, Aly Cokeley of Palmetto Weddings who made my job so much easier (and will be coordinating a certain someone’s wedding in March in Charleston…), and April Harnish who took some amazing shots from the entire day. Can’t wait to see the final pictures, especially those great dance floor shots!

John and Brittney had a beautiful ceremony performed by Benjamin Cokeley, of Palmetto Weddings, with the ocean as the perfect backdrop. After guests enjoyed some cocktails on the deck, everyone made their way to the ballroom for the reception. I then introduced the new Mr. and Mrs. Batchelor to “This is How We Do It” by Montell Jordan. The newlyweds then danced their first dance as husband and wife to “Close Your Eyes” by Michael Bublé. After the first dance, Brittney danced with her father for their father-daughter dance to “My Little Girl” by Tim McGraw. John and his mother had their mother-son dance to “I Hope You Dance” by LeeAnn Womack. Brittney also danced with her stepfather to “My Wish” by Rascal Flatts.

After some amazing food, catching up with family and friends, and funny and very heartfelt speeches by the Maids of Honor and Best Men, we opened up the dance floor with “I Want You Back” by Jackson 5. I knew they were going to be a great group of people when we were barely through the second course of dinner and guests started requesting songs and wanting to know when the music was starting! I played everything, but they really liked the ‘90’s hip-hop…if you couldn’t tell from the intro song. I played everything from DJ Kool, Michael Jackson, Usher, Lil Jon, Old Crow Medicine Show, Nelly, Sir Mix A Lot to Van Morrison, Frankie Valli, and ACDC.

We closed the night out with “Don’t Stop Believin’” before sending off the new couple with a sparkler exit. No one was ready to stop partying, they were great!

This was one of the most fun weddings I have had the privilege of DJing and feel very fortunate to get to know John and Brittney. We all at Bunn DJ Company wish them all the best and a lifetime of happiness!

Sam and Jacob’s Middleton Place Wedding

Sam and Jacob took the scenic drive down from their home in Brooklyn, NY for their wedding on April 25th at Middleton Place in Charleston, SC. The grooms were joined by about 85 of their closest family and friends who enjoyed the beautiful spring day at one of Charleston’s most iconic and beautiful places.

I was able to work with some incredible vendors on this one! Katie Poole and her staff from The Burlap Elephant were amazing and planned a beautiful wedding while making everything so simple for us vendors. Also, it was great to work with the very talented Leigh Webber of Leigh Webber Photography and I cannot wait to see the final shots! Charleston Stems provided the beautiful arrangements for the ceremony and reception.

After guests enjoyed a beautiful ceremony and cocktails overlooking the Butterfly Ponds and Ashley River, they made their way into the Pavilion for dinner and the reception. After some amazing southern cuisine by Butcher and Bee, Sam and Jacob danced with their mothers to “Landslide” by Fleetwood Mac. When then officially started the party with traditional Jewish wedding song “Hava Naglia” and everyone rushed the dance floor to lift our grooms up in their chairs…their parents were even hoisted up by the guests!

We kept the party going with tons of great music. I cannot say enough about how awesome the playlist template was that Sam and Jacob gave me! I played something from every decade going back to the 50’s. I played everything on this night! I played Ace of Base, Robyn, Paula Abdul, Rihanna, Kanye West, Notorious BIG, Marky Mark, Vanilla Ice, Frankie Valli, Spice Girls, Marvin Gaye, Michael Jackson, Beastie Boys…just to name a few. We closed out the reception with “FourFiveSeconds” by Kanye West, Rihanna and Paul McCartney.

The grooms were great, their families were great and all of the guests were great! I had so much fun playing for them, if they all had just half as much fun as I did then it was a success! I am so honored to have been part of the first same-sex wedding at Middleton Place and to have been able to work for such great people.

We all at Bunn DJ Company wish Sam and Jacob all the best and a lifetime of happiness!

Emily and Ryan’s Charleston Wedding at McCrady’s

Emily and Ryan made the trip from Massachusetts for their Charleston wedding on April 18th at McCrady’s Restaurant in downtown Charleston. The bride and groom were joined by about 85 of their closest family and friends who enjoyed a beautiful spring day in Charleston.

I was able to work with some awesome vendors on this one! Working with Christy Loftin and her staff was amazing and amazingly simple…as it always is! Also, it was great to work with the very talented Sara Grant of Sara Bee Photography, cannot wait to see the final shots!

After guests enjoyed a beautiful ceremony, they made their way into the main room to enjoy some hors d’oeuvres and cocktails. Shortly thereafter, I introduced the newlyweds to Avicii’s “Levels” and they then danced their first dance as husband and wife to one of my favorites, “I Choose You” by Sara Bareilles. About halfway through their first dance, Emily and Ryan invited their parents to join in with them, which was a nice touch. After everyone then enjoyed an amazing dinner and some funny, heartfelt toasts, Emily danced with her father and Ryan danced with his mother to “The Way You Look Tonight” by Frank Sinatra.

We then opened up the dance floor, and to start things off, I played “Can’t Get Enough of Your Love” by Barry White and everyone jumped on the dance floor! We kept it high energy most of the evening, only slowing down for some Ray LaMontagne and Ed Sheeran. I also mixed in a couple of songs of the Capital Cities and One Direction variety for Emily’s nieces and nephews. I played everything from Calvin Harris and Al Green to Pitbull and The Rolling Stones to Ellie Goulding and Bruno Mars. For their last song of the night, Emily and Ryan chose “The Time” by Black Eyed Peas, another one of my favorite end-of-the-night songs! They then had a sparkler exit down the alley before heading to a bar down the street. I am sure those sparkler pictures will be amazing!

Emily and Ryan were so easy and great to work with and so much fun. From the first time we talked I knew their wedding would be a great time! It was a privilege to get to know them and be part of their special day. I just hope they and their guests had as much fun as I did!

We all at Bunn DJ Company wish Emily and Ryan all the best and a lifetime of happiness!

Jory and Nicky’s Magnolia Plantation Wedding

Jory Swett and Nicholas Barnes were married on April 9th at the beautiful Magnolia Plantation and Gardens in Charleston, SC. It was a beautiful spring day and the newlyweds were joined by about 60 of their closest family and friends. It was great working with photographer Nicholas Gore of Nicholas Gore Weddings, you can see some of the amazing shots here.

After a beautiful ceremony, which was led by Jory’s father, the couple made their way up the aisle to Dave Barnes’ “Since You Said I Do.” After taking some beautiful pictures around the Gardens, I introduced the newlyweds to U2’s “Beautiful Day.” After Jory and Nicky greeted their guests and everyone enjoyed some amazing food, the couple danced their first dance as husband and wife to Michael Bublé’s “Everything.” Jory and her father then danced to Jimmy Needham’s “Daddy’s Baby Girl” and Nicky and his mother danced to Firehouse’s “Love of a Lifetime,” which was also the song Nicky’s parents danced to at their wedding many years ago. We then did the bouquet toss to “One Way or Another” by Blondie, followed by the garter toss which Nicky did to “Sharp Dressed Man” by ZZ Top.

We then opened up the dance floor with “Achy Breaky Heart”, a special request for the bride’s father, then kept everyone on the dance floor with a mix of country, pop and some throwback hip-hop before the big sparkler send-off.

Jory and Nicky were amazing to work with, so easy and flexible. They had the perfect day and I was so blessed to have been able to be a part of it!

We all at Bunn DJ Company wish Jory and Nicky all the best and a lifetime of happiness!

Grace & John’s Brakefield at River Walk Wedding

Grace Stanbro and John Jones were married on a beautiful spring day at Brakefield at River Walk in Rock Hill, SC on April 4, 2015. The newlyweds were joined by about 150 of the closest friends and family who all enjoyed the perfect day. The bride and groom exchanged beautiful vows on the overlook with the Catawba River as a backdrop.

I was able to work with Ashley Louise Seitz of Ashley Louise Photography who was amazing to work with and took some gorgeous pictures. I cannot wait to see the final shots! You can also check out some of the guests’ pics on Instagram using the hashtag #jonesingtogetmarried.

After guests enjoyed cocktail hour on the patio, everyone headed into the Grand Hall where I introduced the bridesmaids, groomsmen and the new Mr. and Mrs. John Jones to “Best Day of My Life” by American Authors. Grace and John danced their first dance as husband and wife to “Perfect Storm” by Brad Paisley. Grace then danced with her father to “When You Need Me” by Bruce Springsteen and there was not a dry eye in the room. John and his mother then danced to “The Baby” by Blake Shelton. The couple invited other fathers and daughters and mothers and sons to join them about halfway through their respective songs, which was a really nice touch.

Grace and John had a great playlist that allowed me to get a really good idea as to what kinds of music they wanted. After a beautiful live performance of Ed Sheeran’s “Thinking Out Loud” by the bride’s cousins, we opened up the dance floor with “Holidae In” by Chingy and everyone jumped on the dance floor and never left for more than two hours! When I played “Thunderstruck” by AC/DC, everyone ran to the bar and ran back to play the drinking game that is associated with the song which was a lot of fun. The entire Stanbro family formed a circle and sang “Bohemian Rhapsody” and sang it surprisingly well! John even sang a few songs to his new bride, including some Garth Brooks, Old Crow Medicine Show and Lynyrd Skynyrd, and I had no idea he could sing like that!

Everyone had a great time and I am so thankful to have been a part of their perfect day. Grace and John were amazing and so easy to work with, and those are the days where it does not feel like work at all! I had so much fun, I just hope they and their guests had as much fun as I did!

We all at Bunn DJ Company wish Grace and John all the best and a lifetime of happiness!

Gracey & Richard’s Wedding at The Vendue, Charleston, SC

Gracey Hulbert and Richard Nam made their way to Charleston from Naples, FL to the have the picture-perfect St. Patrick’s Day wedding at The Vendue in Charleston, SC. The newlyweds-to-be were joined by about 50 of their closest family and friends who all enjoyed a beautiful wedding on a beautiful day. The ceremony and reception were held on the main level of The Rooftop and everyone enjoyed an amazing dinner in The Vendue’s signature restaurant, The Drawing Room. The Vendue is known as “Charleston’s Art Hotel” which was fittingly perfect for this bride. Gracey is quite a talented artist; she even painted the table assignments for her wedding dinner, which were unbelievable!

Working with Alex Crall and his incredible staff at The Vendue was remarkable. They all were fantastic, made everyone feel so welcomed and made it all so easy for the vendors and guests.

After guests enjoyed an outstanding dinner, everyone headed back up to the rooftop where we had some great music waiting for them…not to mention a crepe station! Gracey and Richard performed an amazing choreographed first-dance to “Everybody Loves Somebody” by Dean Martin. Gracey then danced with her father to the aptly named “Gracie” by Ben Folds. It was a very special moment and dance for the two of them as Gracey is the youngest of three girls, the two older whom are married. I don’t think there was a dry eye on that rooftop as they danced. Richard joined the other special woman in his life, his mother, on the dance floor and they danced to “A Parent’s Prayer” by Stephen Curtis Chapman.

Gracey and Richard put their full faith and trust in me to keep people dancing, telling me to do what I do. We packed the floor from the beginning to the end. I played hits from the last six decades, everything from Sister Sledge to Redbone to Journey to Calvin Harris to Whitney Houston to Missy Elliott. We unfortunately had to end what was a perfect evening, and we ended the night with Donna Summer’s “Last Dance.” I also have to mention one of their wedding hashtags since it was so great and I loved it…#saymynam.

I had such a great time working with Gracey and Richard and their families. From the first time we talked I knew they would be great to work with. They were fun, excited and just awesome people. It is clients like them, and weddings like theirs, that make what I do not feel like work. It was a privilege to get to know them and be part of their special day. I just hope they and their guests had as much fun as I did!

We all at Bunn DJ Company wish Gracey and Richard all the best and a lifetime of happiness!

Jenn and Josh’s Wedding at Tides, Folly Beach, SC

Jennifer Stritch and Josh Bender made the trip from their home in Charlotte, NC to Charleston, SC and were married on February 28th, 2015 at the beautiful oceanfront Tides Folly Beach. Being near water for their wedding was essential for this couple that spends a lot of time on Lake Norman. They were joined by about 70 of their closest family members and friends. Unfortunately, Jenn and Josh had to move their ceremony from the beach to inside due to the weather, but still, having Folly Beach and the ocean as your backdrop isn’t too bad!

I was very fortunate to work with some amazing vendors on this wedding, including: Rachel Sneed of Tides Folly Beach and her amazing staff; Brianna Stello of Stello Photography was awesome, took some amazing pictures, just look at them below! Daniel Forster of DJ Motion Pictures provided excellent videography services and got some great footage of the entire night!

After guests enjoyed some cocktails while looking out over the Atlantic Ocean, the new Mr. and Mrs. Joshua Bender were introduced to “Best Day of My Life” by American Authors. After dinner, the newlyweds then danced their first dance as husband and wife to “Wonderful, Wonderful” by Johnny Mathis. About halfway through “Wonderful, Wonderful,” I invited Jenn’s father and Josh’s mother to join them on the dance floor to dance with their children, and before the end of the song, their spouses were invited to the dance floor as well so the bride and groom were able to share their dance with their parents which was a great moment. Jenn and Josh then cut their beautiful, beach-themed cake to “I Can’t Help Myself (Sugar Pie Honey Bunch)” by The Four Tops. Jenn tossed her bouquet to “Girls Just Want to Have Fun” by Cyndi Lauper, and Josh successfully found and shot the garter to “Bad Boys (Theme from Cops)” by Inner Circle, which was awesome.

We opened up the dance floor with “Cupid Shuffle” by Cupid. Jenn and Josh gave me a great playlist from which to work, including several Jimmy Buffett songs, but that didn’t surprise me since they were self-proclaimed “Parrotheads.” Everyone danced to everything! Just some of the artists I played include: Bob Marley, Jimmy Buffett, Magic!, Journey, Neil Diamond, ABBA, Flo-Rida, James Taylor, Zac Brown Band, Whitney Houston, Rihanna, LMFAO and Black Eyed Peas. One of the best moments was when Jenn was asked to take a seat on the chair in the middle of the dance floor and was serenaded by Josh, his Best Man, and several others, who gave an inspiring rendition of “Bohemian Rhapsody” by Queen.

I had a great time working with Jenn and Josh and their families. It was a privilege to get to know them and to be their wedding DJ for their special day. I just hope they and their guests had as much fun as I did!

We all at Bunn DJ Company wish Jenn and Josh all the best and a lifetime of happiness!

William Aiken House Wedding Ceremony and Reception

Erika Grogg and Jack Snyder made the trip from their home in New York City and were married on February 21st at the beautiful, historic William Aiken House in downtown Charleston. They were joined by about 100 of their closest friends and family members, with guests coming from all over to join them on their special day. I was able to work with some truly amazing vendors for this weeding.

Amanda Assey Lewis and her assistant, Becky, of Southern Chic Weddings & Events were awesome and took care of everything! They planned a beautiful event and kept the team of vendors informed and coordinated. Priscilla Thomas of Priscilla Thomas Photography took some unbelievable shots…just check them out below! Also, Drew Pond of Dockhouse Digital did an amazing job, as always, capturing every special moment on video. You can even view the trailer from Erika and Jack’s special day here.

After a beautiful ceremony in front of the coy pond and fountain, and one that included their dog, George Bailey, the bride and groom enjoyed some cocktails and hors d’oeuvres along with their friends and family, then everyone then made their way upstairs for an amazing dinner. After dinner, guests braved the chilly weather, with some help from several propane heaters, and found their way to the black and white dance floor under the tent awaiting the grand entrance of our bride and groom. I introduced the new Mr. and Mrs. Jack Snyder, Jr. to the party to “Happiness” by Chris Malinchak. They then had their first dance as husband and wife to “Latch (Acoustic)” by Sam Smith. Jack and his mother then danced to “Your Song” by Elton John.

We then opened the dance floor with “Shake Your Body Down” by Jackson 5. The bride and groom gave me an amazing playlist, and when I say amazing, I mean it! I played about 55 songs in 1 hour and 45 minutes and everyone loved every song. It was everything from old school hip-hop like Paperboy, Notorious B.I.G and LL Cool J, to house and dance music by artists such as Seven Lions, Avicii and Cedric Gervais, to 80’s pop like Whitney Houston and Prince, just to name a few.

It was an unforgettable day with great people and a great party. I am so happy to have been a part of Erika and Jack’s wedding and to have been able to work with them and such a great team of vendors. I can’t wait to DJ their anniversary party when they come back down to Charleston!

We all at Bunn DJ Company wish Erika and Jack the best and a lifetime of happiness!

David Fox – Bergey/Foutz Wedding Ceremony and Reception at the Charleston Yacht Club, Charleston, SC

Jackie Bergey and Kevin Foutz made the trip from their home in Sanford, NC to Charleston and were married on Valentine’s Day, February 14th, 2015, at the beautiful Charleston Yacht Club. They were joined by about 85 family members and friends, and being that Kevin and Jackie are both in the military, they had family and friends coming from everywhere, aleit Arizona, Florida, Michigan and Colorado just to name a few places. I was very fortunate to work with some amazing vendors on this wedding. Photographer Kayla Pettis was awesome and took some amazing pictures. I cannot wait to see the final shots, they are going to be great. She also provided the photo booth which I definitely enjoyed! Cru Catering provided some unbelievable pulled pork, check out the picture which cannot even come close to doing it justice!

Jackie and Kevin were married on the deck of the Charleston Yacht Club with the Ashley River as the perfect backdrop as well as a beautiful sunset. Jackie and Kevin, being beer conisseurs, had a “beer ceremony” as part of their vows which was a first for me, but definitely cool!

After guests enjoyed some cocktails on the deck, with some heaters going, the guests made their way into reception hall the where I then introduced the new Mr. and Mrs. Kevin Foutz to “Burn It Down” by AWOLNATION. The newlyweds then danced their first dance as husband and wife to “A Million Years” by Alexander. After the first dance, Jackie danced with her father to “In Your Time” by Bob Seger. Kevin and his mother danced to “My Mother Eyes” by George Jessel. The bride and groom added a nice touch by asking the other fathers and daughters and mothers and sons in attendance to join them halfway through the parent dances.

After some amazing food, catching up with family and friends, and funny and very heartfelt speeches by the Matron of Honor and Best Man, we opened up the dance floor with “If I Had a Million Dollars” by Barenaked Ladies and the bride and her sister, the Maid of Honor, sang a duet. I knew they were going to be a great crowd right when I walked into the building. I played everything, and I mean everything! From Don McLean, Bob Seger, Vanilla Ice, Ini Kamoze, Tone Loc, The Lumineers, to Vampire Weekend, Counting Crows, and Billy Idol. The bride and groom also held a couple of money dances, the first to Zac Brown’s “Whatever It Is” and Bob Seger’s You’ll Accompany Me.” We closed the night out with “Uptown Funk” and everyone still wanted to party, they were all awesome!

This was one of the most fun weddings I have had the privilege of working and was very fortunate to get to know Jackie and Kevin. We all at Bunn DJ Company wish Jackie and Kevin all the best and a lifetime of happiness!

Charleston Historic District Wedding

Adrienne Hoving and Jimmy Zhan made the trip from their home in New York City to Charleston and were married on January 10th at the beautiful DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel in downtown Charleston. They were joined by about 80 of their closest friends and family members, with several guests coming from New York, China and Switzerland! I was able to work with Amber VanPatten and her amazing team at the DoubleTree, as well as photographer Marni Rothschild who took some amazing pictures, a few of which you can see below!

Adrienne and Jimmy were married in the courtyard of the DoubleTree around sunset. They and their guests braved the unseasonably cold weather and had a beautiful ceremony. The officiant told some great stories about the couple such as how they met and some important moments during the four-year courtship. The most telling being that Jimmy and Adrienne always found the time to spend with one another despite living far from one another, in Manhattan terms, and Jimmy working long hours in the finance industry and Adrienne being a night-nurse.

After some cocktails in the courtyard, with some heaters going, the guests made their way into the “Charleston Room” where I then introduced the new Mr. and Mrs. Jimmy Zhan. The newlyweds then danced their first dance as husband and wife to “All of Me” by John Legend. After the first dance, the other special man in Adrienne’s life, her father, danced to “Isn’t She Lovely” by Stevie Wonder. Jimmy and his mother then danced to “What a Wonderful World” by Louis Armstrong.

After some amazing food, catching up with family and friends, and funny, heartfelt speeches by the Matron of Honor and Best Man, who were the bride and groom’s younger siblings, respectively, and a playful rebuttal by the groom to his brother’s toast, we opened up the dance floor with “Dynamite” by Taio Cruz and everyone jumped on the dance floor and never left. I knew they were going to be a great crowd right when I played that song. They wanted the music upbeat, fast and nonstop…so who am I to argue! Adrienne and Jimmy had full faith and trust in me and told me to do what I do, and I am grateful that they had that trust in me and what I do. We had a great time and everyone danced to Jay-Z, Usher, Lil Jon, Bob Seger, Rihanna, Journey, Taylor Swift, Bruno Mars, you name it! We closed out the night with “Don’t Stop Believing” and “Happy.”

It is weddings like this one, and clients like Adrienne and Jimmy that make me love what I do, and make it so rewarding and fun! The couple also had one of the best hash tags I’ve ever seen…#when2becomeZhan.

We all at Bunn DJ Company wish Adrienne and Jimmy all the best and a lifetime of happiness!
